TrueLook Releases Findings of 2020 Jobsite Security Report

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – April 9, 2020  – Winston-Salem-based construction camera provider TrueLook announced today findings of its 2020 Jobsite Security Report. The report surveyed 739 construction professionals and security managers in Q1 of 2020 to assess their perceptions about jobsite security and the obstacles they face.

Analysis revealed that although construction professionals know that theft is rampant, many firms are slow to adopt the sophisticated surveillance and security solutions they need. Key findings of the report include:

  • More than three out of four construction professionals have experienced jobsite theft. Single losses were substantial, ranging as high as $50,000 for nearly a third of respondents.
  • Sophisticated thieves, lack of budget for security, and inadequate staff training were the biggest challenges cited.
  • A substantial number of thefts were from individuals who had legitimate access to the jobsite, and a vast number of those thefts were targeted at tools.
  • Stolen items were rarely recovered, but when they were, the police were involved and security cameras were present.

TrueLook Product Manager, Jimmy Hodson, will be presenting further findings of this report during a webinar with Construction Executive on April 15, 2020.

“With theft being such a prevalent source of loss for our customers, we want to make sure we’re doing our part to make for more secure jobsites,” said Hodson. “Our experience, along with data from this report, suggests that the best way to secure jobsites is through a multi-layered approach including the use of construction cameras.”

In Q1 of this year, TrueLook announced motion alerts as part of its expanded Intelligent Security offering. In addition to customizable motion alerts, all TrueLook cameras offer 24/7 HD security recording with at least 30 days of rolling storage. Fetched security recordings are saved indefinitely within the user dashboard.
